Research has shown that the use of Premarin and PremPro increases the risk of breast cancer, heart disease, and strokes in women. Therefore, we exclusively use micronized estradiol and progesterone in our hormone replacement therapy to treat the symptoms of menopause, and osteoporosis.
According to the National Institutes of Health, the symptoms of menopause include: hot flashes, vaginal dryness, urinary tract infections, stress incontinence, pain during intercourse, decreased libido, disrupted sleep – which can lead to fatigue, lack of energy, and memory problems, mood changes such as anxiety, osteoporosis, heart disease, weight gain, high blood pressure, heart attack and stroke.

In men, low testosterone levels can cause unpleasant symptoms of hypogonadism including lost libido, soft erections, excessive weight gain, muscle loss, feeling tired all the time, moodiness, sadness and depression. We also use compounded hormones in our male patients to raise testosterone levels to treat these unpleasant symptoms.

Another important component of balanced hormones is optimizing thyroid function. If the thyroid is not functioning at optimum levels, the body’s energy will be decreased and it will have more difficulty balancing the hormones.

Dr. Julie will visit with you to evaluate your symptoms. Blood is then drawn and sent to the lab to evaluate your baseline levels of hormones and thyroid function. Based on your symptoms and lab values, we will come up with a treatment plan that will be tailored to your needs.
